Electronic Quadrajet Carburetor -Free Repair Manual!

This is a public service announcement to anyone who chooses to rebuild their electronic Rochester Quadrajet carburetor.  If you've never rebuilt an electronic Q-jet carb and you don't have a good manual, don't worry, I'll show you what to do.

These electronic Rochester Quadrajet carburetors incorporate a throttle position sensor and a mixture control solenoid, so you will have at least 2 connectors and maybe a third which would be an electronic choke. The throttle position sensor sends a signal to the computer just like the tps on a fuel injected engine. The mixture control solenoid is an electromagnet that pulls in a plunger 10 times a second with a varying duty cycle to lean out or enrich the air fuel mixture.

There are a couple more adjustments on the electronic Q-jet and guidelines you need to be aware of before you even disassemble an electronic Quadrajet. Probably the first thing you should be aware of is that the when you get down to the float area where the mixture control solenoid is located, remember that the specialized screw that secures the mixture control solenoid to the fuel bowl body should have its position recorded prior to removal! The idle air bleed valve, mixture control solenoid and the two sealed up mixture control screws might need to be adjusted.
